There’s nothing easy about a child receiving treatment for serious illness. With a single diagnosis the lives of entire families are turned upside down as parents are forced to watch their children physically deteriorate under the effects of chemotherapy and other invasive medication. The devastating impact it can have on their quality of life is why the King Matt Theatre is committed to performing an annual children’s play that can be performed for the sick kids at BC Children’s Hospital. “For kids getting treatment [these plays] enhance their quality of life,” Dan Mornar said, retired parent/patient advocate for oncology at the BCCH. “It raises their energy level and it’s good for the immune system.

” The King Matt Theatre is an offshoot of Vancouver’s Polish Theatre and this year’s play, A Tale About Happiness, marks their fifth year of collaboration with BCCH.
